EARLY GOALS PUSH WASHINGTON PAST TRINITY WESTERN

SEATTLE - In their final match of a three match swing of Pacific Northwest NCAA schools the Trinity Western University men's soccer team fell to the University of Washington, 4-1, Tuesday afternoon in front of 285 fans at Husky Soccer Field.

The Spartans lone marker came off of the boot of forward Nathan Pogue (Seaside,Ore.) in the 88th minute.

The Huskies fourth year midfielder Taylor Cochran scored two goals (4th, 7th) for Washington and added an assist as UW jumped out to an early lead and never looked back.

Washington who led 2-0 at the half added two more goals in the second half. The first came from Brent Richards in the 52nd minute while the second came from Matt Van Houten in the 57th minute.

Pogue led the Spartans with three shots on net, while Daniel Lowen (Langley, B.C.) added two more shots.

The Huskies controlled the attack throughout the game, racking up 24 shots to Trinity Western's nine.

TWU keeper Andrew Fink (Burnaby, B.C.) played the full match and made nine saves on 13 shots on net, eight of which came in the second half.

The Huskies Rylan Hawkins played the majority of the game in goal for UW, making one save and not allowing a goal in just over 57 minutes of play.

TWU went 0-3 on the road trip falling 2-1 to Seattle University, 5-2 to Oregon State University and 4-1 to Washington. The Spartans now head home for a match with Thompson Rivers University on Thursday at 7 p.m. at Spartan Field.
