Spartan Extend Streak to 12-0
TWU tops TRU 3-0 to go to 4-0 in Canada West

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western University men’s volleyball team moved to 4-0 in Canada West play with their 3-0 win over the visiting Thompson Rivers University WolfPack (0-4). The Spartans have won each of their Canada West matches 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-22) to move their game winning streak to 12- 0 in Canada West.

TWU Head Coach Ron Pike chose to sit All-Canadian’s Chris Meehan (5th yr, middle, Clearwater, BC) and Steve Rogalsky (3rd yr, rightside, Maple Ridge, BC) in tonight’s match. FISU national team setter Josh Howatson (4th yr, setter, Victoria, BC) was also rested as he only came in for one play at the end of the first set.

As a result the WolfPack had a decent showing in tonight’s match. In Friday night’s match the WolfPack totaled 37 points in their straight set loss. Tonight the WolfPack still lost in straight sets, but they managed to almost double their point production form 37 to 60 points.

Doug Van Spronson (2nd yr, middle, Dawson Creek, BC) with 11 kills and Jon Zuidhof with 10 kills led the Spartans, while Behlul Yavasgel ((Istanbul, TURKEY) with 10 kills led the WolfPack. TWU setter Jeff Lindemulder (5th yr, Calgary, AB) had a career high 25 set assists.

Next up for the Spartans is the University of Calgary Dinos on Nov. 11 & 12. Match times at TWU are set for 8 pm.
