Spartans Block Dinos
Spartans make it nine straight sets with 3-0 win over Calgary

CALGARY - The second ranked Trinity Western University men’s volleyball team used 12 team blocks to hold off a surging University of Calgary Dinos Friday night in Calgary. Middle Chris Meehan (fifth year, Clearwater, B.C.) and setter Josh Howatson (fourth year, Victoria, B.C.) led the Spartans with eight blocks assists each as TWU improved to 11-2 with a 3-0 win 25-13, 25-16, 29-27.

“Our blocking was solid and our offense ran well tonight,” said TWU Head Coach Ron Pike.

Steve Rogalsky (third year, Maple Ridge) led the Spartans offense with 11 kills, with Meehan added eight kills to the cause. Blake Adair led the Dinos with 11 kills.

The loss drops the Dinos to 2-13 in Canada West league play.

The two teams battle again tomorrow night in Calgary. Match time is set for 7 pm MST.

Match Notes: TWU finished with 36 kills, hitting at 39% efficiency, while Calgary finished with 33 kills, hitting at 10%...the Dinos finished with one team block...
