Slow Start to Second Semester for Spartans
Langley, British Columbia - On Friday, January 7, 2000 the Trinity Western University women's basketball team traveled to Brandon Manitoba to play the Brandon University Bobcats. The Spartans were slow out of the gate and found themselves down 10 at the half, 33-23. The Spartans played a sloppy game and turned the ball over 26 times to give the Bobcats a 58-47 point victory.
"We made mental mistakes through out the game. We turned the ball over and put them on the Foul-line. Two things you cannot do if you hope to win. We are the better team, but we didn't play like it tonight," commented TWU Assistant Coach Kerby Court.
Leading the way for the Spartans were "Player of the Game" Denise Page (14 points, 4 steals), Alaina Thiessen (8 points, 2 rebounds), Katie Hall (7 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals) and Heidi Suderman (7 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds). Statistical leaders for Brandon were Tara Dale (14 points, 10 rebounds) and Patricia Wood (17 points, 10 rebounds).
The Spartans play tomorrow night against the Bobcats. Game time is 6:15 local time.
