Spartans Drop Final Match to the Dinos
Langley, British Columbia - The Trinity Western University women's basketball team finished up their season tonight with a 49-81 loss against the University of Calgary Dinos.
The Dinos came out strong and dominated the play almost immediately in the first half. Due to a powerful Calgary offence, the Spartans were behind 20-46 at the half. Calgary's Leighann Doan (5th yr, Post, Halkirk, AB) was unstoppable tonight as she scored a huge 27 points.
Trinity Western was more disciplined in the second half allowing only 35 points in the second period compared to the 46 points allowed in the first, however, this burst of energy came too late as the Dinos stepped up the pressure and outscored the Spartans 35-29 in the second half.
Statistical leaders for the Spartans are Anna Chinnery (4th yr, Forward/Center, Abbotsford, BC) scored 13 points and Katie Hall (2nd yr, Forward, Abbotsford, BC) who scored 10 points.
