SPARTANS END SPRING SEASON WITH TWO IN SEATTLE

SEATTLE - The Trinity Western University women's soccer team concluded the 2007-08 spring season with two matches in Seattle. The Spartans feel 3-0 to Seattle Pacific University on Saturday before tying Seattle University 0-0 Sunday afternoon.

"In Saturday's match against Seattle Pacific our inexperience showed and when you play against a good team and you aren't ready to compete then you are not going to get rewarded. Sunday's match against Seattle University was a much more competitive effort against a very athletic team. We had a couple of opportunities, but it was generally a battle of the midfield and the tie was probably a fair result," commented TWU head coach Graham Roxburgh. "In the end it was good to get something out of our weekend, while providing an opportunity to have our younger players learn what it takes to play at the next level."

Next action for the Spartans is next August for the beginning of the 2008 CIS season.

The Spartans women's soccer team has already earned a berth in next season's CIS national championship. TWU has earned the spot as host of the 2008 CIS championship November 6-9 at TWU. It will mark the first time that TWU has hosted a CIS championship. It will be the third appearance in the championship for the Spartans women's soccer team, they won the title in 2004.
