LANGLEY, British Columbia – Trinity Western University CIS champion head coach Graham Roxburgh announced today the addition of four more recruit signings for the upcoming 2009 women’s soccer season. The Spartans have signed Caitlin Haines (New Westminster, B.C.), Kristen Santema (Coquitlam, B.C.), Laura Baird (Cloverdale, B.C.) and Rachel Antoniuk (Langley, B.C.) to join TWU this fall.

The Trinity Western University women’s soccer team and rookie forward Nikki Wright have made the final three for the annual Sport BC awards. The women’s soccer team is a finalist for Team of the Year, while Wright is a finalist for University Athlete of the Year. Award recipients will be announced at the annual Athlete of the Year awards ceremony on Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at the River Rock Show Theatre in Richmond, BC.

Trinity Western’s Daniela Gerig scored six goals in the Spartans’ two victories this past weekend. The Fort Langley, B.C. native had five goals, including the match-winner, in the Spartans’ 9-0 win over Regina on Friday and had a goal in TWU’s 3-0 win over No. 3 Manitoba on Saturday. The perfect weekend keeps the Spartans the lone unbeaten team in Canada West at 4-0-2.

Trinity Western freshman Nikki Wright is making an early statement for Rookie of the Year honours. The Cloverdale, B.C. native had a great home opening weekend for the Spartans, following up her first goal of the year in a 1-1 tie with No. 4 UBC (2-0-2) on Thursday with two goals Saturday afternoon to lead the Spartans to a 2-1 victory over the visiting No. 7-ranked Victoria Vikes (2-2-0).
