SPARTANS END YEAR WITH DRAW
SEATTLE – The Trinity Western University women’s soccer team tied Seattle Pacific University 1-1 in a chippy competitive affair on Saturday afternoon in Seattle, Wash. The match was the final game of the Spartans 2007 spring season.
TWU’s Carlee O’Brien scored the lone goal for the Spartans, who fell behind 1-0 on an early goal by the Falcons. For O’Brien’s, who led Canada West in goal scoring this fall, it was her fourth goal of the weekend.
“We were really banged up and missing a number of our regular starters. All things considered our young kids and the players who don’t play a lot played well,” said TWU head coach Graham Roxburgh. “It was a good road trip and a good way to finish the season as a team and I’m encouraged that the future looks very bright.”
The Spartans are the defending Canada West champions and earned a fifth place finish at this year’s CIS national championship.
