Scrimmage vs Seattle University
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SPARTANS SCRIMMAGE REDHAWK’S
LANGLEY, British Columbia
– The Trinity Western University women’s soccer team scrimmaged the University of Seattle Red Birds Wednesday afternoon at TWU’s Spartan Field.
The Spartans showed signs of improvement over Tuesday’s scrimmage with Capilano College as the 2007 squad got used to playing as a unit.
“Our first thirty minutes, with some of our players playing in their more natural positions, showed that we can play some nice soccer. And for the most part it was good match for us,” said TWU Head Coach Graham Roxburgh. “It was also good to get some significant minutes for a large number of our players.”
Leah Schmelter (1st year, keeper, Langley, B.C.) played the full ninety in net for the Spartans.
The Redhawk’s are an NCAA Div. II school. Their program is the defending Great North West Athletic Conference Champions.
Next up for the Spartans is a trip to Ohio where they will match up against Wright State on August 21, Miami of Ohio on August 22, Cincinnati on August 23 and Mount Vernon Nazarene on August 25.
TWU opens up their defense of their Canada West title on September 7 when they will host the University of Calgary at 5 p.m.
