Spartans Finish Third at McGill
TWU women's volleyball Danielle Foth named All-star

MONTREAL, Quebec -  Behind the all-star performance of TWU's Danielle Foth (2nd yr, LS/RS, Abbotsford, BC) the Trinity Western University women's volleyball team finished in a tie for third at this weekend's McGill Invitational tournament. The Spartans finished the tournament with a record of three wins and two losses. TWU lost in the semifinal 3-2 (18-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-21, 15-10) to eventual tournament champion Universite Laval. Laval earned the tournament title by defeating McGill University 3-0 (25-20, 25-14, and 25-14).

The Spartans were the only team in the tournament to take two sets off of Laval, who finished the tournament with a perfect 6-0 record, while only dropping three sets (18-3) in the tournament.

Final tournament standings were 1. Laval (6-0), 2. McGill (5-1), 3. Trinity Western University (3-2) - Sherbrooke (3-2) tie, 5. Saskatchewan (3-2), 6. Winnipeg (2-3), 7. Ottawa (2-3), 8. McMaster (1-4), 9. St. Mary's (1-4), 10. Dalhousie (0-5).

Laval's Marylene Laplante was named tournament MVP with Danielle Foth, Amily Rivet (Laval), Jennifer Thomson (McGill), Christine Borisov (McGill), Marie-Christine Pruneau (Sherbrooke) and Marlee Bragg (Winnipeg) being named to the tournament all-start team.

Next up for the Spartans is at the Capilano College tournament on October 22-23.
