Led by a strong mix of veterans and rookies the TWU women’s volleyball team is coming off of their most successful start in school history. The Spartans are currently ranked eighth in the CIS and sit tied for second place in Canada West with a record of eight wins and two losses and an overall record of 15 wins and five losses. Their individual and team talent has allowed them to statistically be one of the best teams in the conferences. TWU currently ranks second in defensive hitting percentage at 11%, kills per game with 12.79, blocks per game with 2.79, and service aces per game with 1.76.
“The season so far has been extremely exciting and we are gaining momentum as we head into the second half of the season,” said TWU head coach Carol Hofer.
The Spartans have positioned themselves to earn a second consecutive post season appearance with the opportunity to host their first ever playoff match at TWU. Key matches for the Spartans in their quest for a berth in this years CIS national championships is their January 6-7 matches when they will host second ranked Alberta and February 3-4 matches when they will host fourth ranked University of British Columbia.
“Our upcoming matches against the University of Alberta will be a head-to-head match-up of two of the top teams in our conference,” said Hofer. “Statistically we match up with them very well and the matches will certainly set both teams up for great playoff runs!”
