 Canada West Athletes of the Week - January 9, 2006

Female – Jodi Schaufele (4th , LS, Vancouver, BC) – Trinity Western Spartans, Volleyball

Fourth year Human Kinetics major Jodi Shaufele helped the eighth ranked Spartans improve to 10-2 in Canada West league play with two upset wins over the second ranked University of Alberta Pandas, 3-2 and 3-0.

The 5’9” left-side sparked her teammates with an energized all out effort Friday night. Schaufele finished the night with nine kills, three aces, seven digs and four blocks. During a critical point in the fifth set, Schaufele went into the stands on the Pandas side of the net and played the ball back to the Spartans side to keep the rally going, one which TWU would eventually win. She followed it up with a key block on the next play as the Spartans went on the win the fifth set 15-11.

The following night Schaufele helped the Spartans sweep the Pandas 3-0 (25-23, 25-11, 25-20) and move into first place in Canada West with 20 points (10-2). Schaufele finished the match with seven kills, eight digs and three blocks.

She finished the weekend with 16 kills, 15 digs, seven blocks and three aces.
