The Trinity Western University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce their second hiring of the a Complete Champion Award winner in as many weeks, as they welcome Saralyn Stel (Delia, Atla) as the new assistant sports information director.

Trinity Western University Spartans women’s volleyball head coach Ryan Hofer finished off his excellent recruiting class with three transfers, and a Spartan who is returning after a season away. Left side Carmen Dyck (Creston, B.C.) is transferring from Mount Royal College in Calgary, setter Lauren O’Reilly (Langley, B.C.) returns home after one season at Michgan State University, libero Jodi Neufeld (Surrey, B.C.) comes from Abbotsford’s Columbia Bible College, and outside hitter Danielle Foth (Abbotsford, B.C.) returns to the team after taking last season off.
JANSEN VAN DOORN AND TEAM CANADA FINISH POOL PLAY IN MEXICO

Tijuana, Mexico – TWU Spartans and team Canada middle blocker Dayna Jansen Van Doorn (Langley, B.C.) and her Canadian teammates are on a hot streak at the Pan American Cup in Mexico. The Canadian Senior team recorded their third straight win on Tuesday night in Tijuana, blanking Peru 3-0. Set scores were 25-20, 25-12, 25-18 in favour of Canada.
2007-08 Women's Volleyball Year in Review

It was a bitter sweet year for the Spartans women’s volleyball team. They once again enjoyed great success by finishing with a 15-8 record, good for fourth spot and host of a first-round playoff series in the Canada West against the fifth seeded, and defending National Champion Alberta Pandas. After losing the best-of-three series 2-1, they were left to wonder what could have been as injuries derailed their hopes of returning to the CIS Nationals for a third straight season. TWU finished ranked sixth in the final TWU poll, and were ranked in the top 10 every week of the season.

The Spartans welcome middle Nicole Bazin (Winnipeg), outside/libero Amber Brown (Three Hills, Alta.), and outside hitter Amy Leschied (Selkirk, Man.).

For a second straight year, the Thérèse Quigley Award nominee is Saralyn Stel of the Trinity Western Spartans. The Spartan’s captain, now in her fifth year, is a two-time academic all-Canadian and former Canada West Rookie of the Year.

BEIJING, China – In the final match of the Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team’s tour of China the Spartans lost 3-0 (25-19, 25-15, 25-16) to Tanjin Institute of Technology who are considered to be one of the top team’s in top tier’s in China.

BEIJING, China – On Monday evening the Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team played their third match of their tour of China. Led by Julie Koepke with eight kills, five blocks and three aces and Dayna Jansen Van Doorn with eight kills and eight blocks the Spartans fell 3-1 (25-17, 25-10, 17-25, 25-19) to Nankai University.

BEIJING, China – After flying half-way around the world the Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team matched up with to top university teams from China. On Friday the Spartans fell 3-0 to Nankai University and on Sunday the Spartans fell 3-1 to Tanjin Institute of Technology.

BANGKOK, Thailand – Canada falls 3-0 to China Canada lost to China 3-0 (25-17, 25-22, 25-22) in its third and final preliminary match at the 24th Summer Universiade on Sunday. After posting a 1-3 record in the preliminary around, Canada has been eliminated from medal contention and will now play on the consolation side of the draw.
