ANOTHER HIRE, ANOTHER COMPLETE CHAMPION AWARD WINNER

LANGLEY, British Columbia
- The Trinity Western University Department of Athletics is pleased to announce their second hiring of a Complete Champion Award winner in as many weeks, as they welcome Saralyn Stel (Delia, Atla.) as the new assistant sports information director.

"Over the past year Saralyn has been recognized with many major awards, including the CIS's Therese Quigley Award and TWU's Complete Champion Award, but she has also been a significant contributor behind the scenes with her work in the Department of Athletics," says TWU Sports Information Director Scott Stewart. "Individuals with the talent of Sarayln are very rare and I am thrilled to have her returning to work in the Spartans Sports Information Department."

Stel will be working in a variety of roles in the sports information department, including work on the media board, Hallway of History, media guides, game programs, design items, archiving, photos and writing for the gospartans.ca website.

"I'm excited to work along Scott this year in the athletic department," Saralyn says. "I know I'll be learning and gaining valuable experience that I can take into other future jobs and a long term career. It's also great to be apart of and give back to an athletic program that gave so much to me for the past five years."

Saralyn certainly gave more than her fair share in her time as a student-athlete at Trinity Western. On the volleyball court she was a five year starter as an outside hitter on the women's volleyball team from 2003-2008, a three-time academic all-Canadian, and a Canada West Rookie of the Year winner (2003). She is TWU's all-time leader in kills with 1,040 and third in school history in digs with 862.

Off the court Stel was very involved with her school and the community. Some of her many contributions were as Coordinator and Developer of the TWU CIS Athlete Mentor Program, a Spartan Student Athlete Leadership Team member and a Sports Ministry Rep as event and outreach coordinator.

This past spring she received two prestigious awards for her accomplishments: In March she received the Therese Quigley Award, given each year by the CIS to reward excellence in a female student-athletes that exhibits outstanding achievement in three volleyball, academics and community involvement. In April, Stel was one of three recipients, along with newly hired TWU Athletics Intern Erin-Marie Higgins (Surrey, B.C.), and soccer player Whitney Agassiz (Salmon Arm, B.C.). of the Complete Champion Approach TM Award winners. The award is selected by the Spartan Athletics Awards Committee from the coaches' nominations and awarded to a varsity athlete who during their career at TWU has been outstanding in the following areas: athletic achievement, quality of character, role model/TWU representative, and academics.

Stel graduated from Trinity Western University in 2008, completing a Bachelor of Arts degree in Human Kinetics and Business.
