KARA JANSEN VAN DOORN SELECTED TO TEAM CANADA
LANGLEY, British Columbia - Trinity Western University Kara Jansen Van Doorn (Langley, B.C.) has been selected to be a member of Canada's National Beach Volleyball Team.
"Kara selection to the Beach National Team Program is a great recognition of the effort and commitment she has made to improving herself as a volleyball player both indoors and outdoors," commented TWU head coach Ryan Hofer. "The time she's spent on the beach has made a significant impact on her indoor game and I am looking forward to Kara's development as an international player."
The Langley, B.C. native is currently leads the Spartans and is ninth in Canada West in kills per game at 2.84 and tenth in points per game at 3.40.
"It is a huge honour to be chosen for this team, beach volleyball is a game that I absolutely love, and I'm so excited to be part of the team this summer," commented the third year outsided hitter. "Playing for Trinity has definitely increased my love for volleyball in general, and developed skills that will really help me on the beach. My coaches and teammates have encouraged me to play beach, and I am excited to see how it will help me develop as an athlete and teammate."
Kara's older sister and teammate Dayna is currently a member of Canada's National indoor team.
The Spartans are currently on their Christmas break and will return to Canada West conference action on Jan. 9-10 when they will host the No. 4 University of Manitoba Bisons (8-4). TWU at 6-4 is currently in sixth place in Canada West and are ranked sixth in the CIS top ten national rankings.
