Spartan’s season silenced

Langley, British Columbia –
The first CIAU season for the Trinity Western University women’s volleyball team has finally come to an end. The Spartans played their last match of the year against the University of Alberta on February 12. The Pandas flew past the Spartans for the second straight night with a powerful 3-0 victory. Game scores for Alberta were 25-16, 25-11 And 25-19.

Alberta, the #1 team in the nation is headed to the Canada West play-offs with a record of 21-1. TWU finishes their first CIAU season with a 0-22 Canada West record and an overall mark of 0-28.

Suzie Buckmaster led Alberta with 8 kills and 5 digs. Jolene Dryfhout again topped the Spartans with 8 kills and 4 digs.

“Overall we played a lot better tonight than last night. We finished on a positive note and played quite well in the final game. I thought Kelli Martens was the top Spartan tonight. She was passing consistently and played good defense,” stated Head Coach Larry Plenert.
