SPARTANS FINISH TOURNAMENT WITH WIN

LANGLEY, British Columbia – The Trinity Western University women’s volleyball finished the West Coast Classic with an impressive 3-0 win over the Thompson Rivers University WolfPack Saturday evening at the Langley Event Centre.

The Spartans showed their strength done the stretch in each set as they prevailed in straight sets 25-23, 25-12 and 25-20.

Thompson Rivers looked good to start the match as they took 8-7 and 16-15 leads at the two timeouts. But the Spartans got the points when they needed them down the stretch to rally to take the opener 25-23.

Trinity Western was dominating in the second set. The Spartans never let the WolfPack get going as TWU led 8-2 and 16-6 at the two breaks, before finishing of the set 25-12.

The Spartans carried the momentum into the third set to lead 8-5 at the first break. The WolfPack rallied to take a 16-15 lead, but from then on the Spartans took control. TWU finished off the set and the match with a 10-4 run to take the final set 25-20.

TWU opens up Canada West conference play next week at Simon Fraser University.
