In The Beginning.

I'm not much of a writer.

My professors can easily attest to this fact. Even beyond academia, I have never spent much time producing anything of note or merit. My last published work came in Grade III and it sold all of four copies. For many reasons, Grade III was a big year for me and I have since spent most of my time stuck in various stages of writer’s block. Undaunted by my repeatedly failures, I agreed to write (semi-frequently) for the student section of the TWU Blogs website. What transpires next remains a mystery to author and audience alike.

Despite my present affliction, I still fancy myself as someday the author of a best-selling book. Perhaps, years from now, I will recall my current experience as the foundation for my success. As such, I should start with the basics.

Preface

I must begin with a confession. I’ve never done this before.

That may not come as a surprise to most, but I still feel that it warrants mention. Perhaps more significant is that fact that I once criticized the entire concept of “blogging.” Who sits at home, rambling into cyberspace a message that no one actually reads? The answer, apparently, is me. If anything, this will be an exercise of humility. Humbling for me and potentially damaging for my audience (assuming such a thing exists)

For that I must also begin with an apology. It will become increasingly apparent (if it has not already) that I do not have a clue what I am doing. For the most part my writing resembles my life – chaotic, spontaneous, and ridiculous. The result is likely a bizarre compilation of a wide variety of subjects without any cogency and coherency. Please understand that it’s not you – it’s me. Somehow I live under this false pretense that what interests me automatically fascinates others. I will eventually learn that is not true.

Until that happens...
