gnosticism

I just have a quick thought to share before I delve back into writing my paper on the virgin birth of Christ.  It's the last research paper that I have for this semester!!  Please do not take that to mean that once I have completed the paper I will have no more work at all except to study for my finals.  *gutteral laugh*  No, that would be utterly too unbelievable of a situation for my fragile self to handle.

Anyway, back to my revelation.  I have secret "gnosis" that I wish to impart to you.

Have you ever seen those lovely pictures that university students take of their book stacks?  Besides the books themselves they usually also include an old-fashioned pencil (like the kind you have to sharpen) and an apple (possibly organic).  It's a breathtaking view, really.  Sometimes the sun is even peeking through a window and enlightening the entire frame.  Would you permit me to de-romanticize this picture for you?

I have 3 stacks of books on my desk right now.  In all, there are 25 books.  I have one paper to write.  It happens to be Friday night.  I'm either (a) ridiculous, (b) a university student, or (c) both.  If I were you and you were actually trying to choose, I would choose option (c).  Regardless, even those who are many times less ridiculous than I am can surely relate to the feeling that arises within simply from glancing at these stacks of books.  I will actually be looking at all of these books, reading parts of them, and hoping that the brilliance contained inside them reflects on me.

Work.  Lots of work.

This brings me to my second piece of "gnosis".  Ssh.  I don't want many people to know.  In fact, I'm only telling you because I trust you to keep it to yourself.

I love university.
