If you are wondering how safe of a campus we are, then look no further. Maybe you are looking for safety programs, you have questions about ergonomics, or you have a work related injury and you are not sure what to do. Find out more here.
We deem it very important to have a comfortable environment in which to work. This means that we all have a responsibility (both employee and supervisor) to carry out our work in a safe manner. If something is suspicious, you smell something odd, see an unsafe practice occurring, feel unsafe at any point in time, become injured or hurt in any way, shape or form, then you must let us know... IMMEDIATELY.
Our Occupational Health and Safety Committee is designed to organize and sometime implement certain procedures that need to be followed. In addition, all supervisors need to be aware of safe practices here in our community. Just reading our safety manual is not enough. Both employee and employer must adhere to the safe practices we have in place.
Please visit our Intranet site for more Health and Safety information.
We have the privilege of having full-time security available to us 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Employees are expected to willingly identify themselves and their vehicles if approached on the understanding that security staff are required to be fully aware of all campus comings and goings.
Since we are a large community, we ask each employee to play a part. As you become familiar with the community, the buildings, and the activities that take place, youll begin to recognize people and the usual course of events. However, if something or someone looks suspicious to you, we ask you to call our security people at 604 657 9911
The following procedures have been developed to ensure accurate and complete reporting of all work-related injuries sustained by the staff and faculty of Trinity Western University and will ensure that we comply with all Workers Compensation Board (WCB) guidelines and regulations.
Note: If by chance you visit your own doctor, you still must let us know so that we can coordinate with WCB
Our goal with any injury is to take care of you. There is no need to worry about the work that you are missing. This will not impact your employment relationship with us, nor will it be a cause for termination (as some people interpret it to be). We need you to be working in a healthy state, which is why we have these processes in place. If you don't report your injury. however, and a subsequent problem arises which prevents you from working, WCB may not be willing to approve your claim. So it is absolutely necessary to report all injuries to ensure you will receive all of the WCB employe benefits avaiable to you.
Since we don't want to confuse you, we will make this simple; REPORT ANY INJURY!
We know that the way people set up their workstation (desk, keyboard, mouse, phone etc) affects their body. Our campus will only purchase ergonomically correct chairs as well as set you up the correct way. However, we know that people have unique situations; therefore, it is important that you tell us so we can accommodate your needs. Just accepting your work area 'as is' is not acceptable to us. We need you to make the right ergonomic adjustments. For example, if you are using an old and uncomfortable chair, poorly positioned mouse or keyboard, please contact the Human Resource department and your supervisor. If you need advice regarding your work set-up, give us a call and we'd be happy to assist you.
Our desire is for you to achieve comfort while working at TWU.
