Voice Mail for Resident StudentsTWU provides voice mail for each resident student. Roommates will each have their own private voice mailbox which is associated with a shared telephone number. Voice mail is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Messages can be retrieved from any touch-tone phone either on or off campus.
Lift the handset and dial 8*. Select one of the unassigned voicemail box numbers listed in your room and follow all instructions to complete the tutorial. During the tutorial, the automated voice will assist you in setting up your mailbox by recording your greeting, setting your personal passcode (6-10 digits) and recording your name. Make sure that you listen to the entire tutorial, otherwise you won't be able to hear or send any messages. If you are interrupted part way through and do not complete the tutorial, you will need to go through the entire tutorial again.
Note: Please make sure there is no background noise when recording your greeting. It is best to go through the tutorial when you are able to be in a quiet room.
From your own telephone: Lift the handset and dial 8*. Follow the prompts to retrieve messages from your mailbox.
From another telephone on campus: Lift the handset and dial 2121. At the greeting dial * to be taken to the message centre. Once in the message centre, dial * + the voice mailbox number assigned to you.
From off campus - dial the auto attendant at 604-513-2121. At the recording enter * to access the message centre then dial * + your mailbox number.
Enter your passcode when prompted.
Once your mailbox has accepted your passcode, the system will tell you how many messages you have:
Press 7 (P) to listen to new messages.
Press 7 (P) to listen to messages again.
Press 3 (D) to delete the message. If you accidentally delete a message, immediately press * to retrieve it. Once the call is terminated, deleted messages cannot be retrieved.
Press 5 (K) to keep the message. (maximum of 7 days).
While you are listning to a message, you also have the following options:
* to go back 5 seconds.
1 to pause the message temporarily.
# to go forward 5 seconds.
T to skip to the top of the next message.
After you have listened to the message, press "A" to send an answer.
At the prompt, record your answer.
Press "9" to send your answer to the caller. The system will confirm that your answer has been sent.
Press "D" to delete the original message from your mailbox.
After you have listened to the message, press "G" to give the message to another voicemail user.
At the prompt, enter the mailbox number of the person you wish to give the message to.
Press "#" to record additional comments. **Note - you must include this step!
Press "9" to send the message. The system will confirm that the message has been sent.
Press "D" to delete the original message from your mailbox.
The users options menu allows you to change your greeting or passcode. Once your voice mailbox has accepted your passcode, press 8 (U) to access the user options menu and its features:
Press 4 (G) to change your greeting.
Press 7 (P) to change your passcode.
Press 6 (N) to change your name.
Press 9 (X) to save your changes and 9 again to exit to the main menu.
The standard mailbox will hold up to 25 messages. If that number is reached, callers will then hear the recording, "the mailbox is full, you cannot leave a message." For this reason it is important that you check your mailbox frequently and discard messages once you have listened to them.
A message that has been played will be kept for 7 days from the time you first listen to it.
Messages that have not been played will be kept for 14 days from the time of receipt.If you are having a problem with your voice mail service, please report the trouble to Telecom Services via the TWU Helpdesk or send an e-mail to telecom@twu.ca.
