Designed for global students, this one year program delivers 27 semester hours (or more) of university credit in a supportive environment. Students take the first year of their degree, including their major. Half of the courses are taken with a global cohort and half are taken with Canadian classmates. Throughout, students have regular sessions with their learning coach to help with all assignments, with a bilingual instructor to discuss and research in the first language, and with the program director for academic and career advice. After completing this first year, students continue into the second year of their major. See the UT1 website for more information.
Freshman Academy is a cohort-based one-year program, combining a first year of credit with an environment of camaraderie, accountability, and support. This program is designed for students whose high school scores fall slightly below the admission requirements, for students who are missing an academic course, and for students who desire a strong, supportive start to university. Retreating from today's hectic life-styles, this type of concentrated format in an out-of-the-way country location, provides an opportunity for professors and students to have a deeper impact in each other's lives. Together they experience all aspects of life as they exchange ideas, build community, and participate jointly in recreational and basic living activities.
TWU offers elementary, middle & high school teachers practical courses for professional development. Most of the courses can be applied towards the Graduate Certificate in Educational Leadership (which ladders into TWU’s MA in Leadership - Education stream) or the Graduate Certificate in Christian Schooling (which ladders into ACTS Seminaries’ MA in Christian Studies).
