Dead Sea Scrolls Course Description: In this course we will cover the main aspects of the Dead Sea Scrolls and explore their relevance for understanding and interpreting the Bible. We will learn about the Scrolls and their publication, the time period in which they were written, and the main Jewish groups that were active in that period.

The main part of the course deals with the text, canon, and interpretation of the Hebrew Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls. We will study several major scrolls and will evaluate recently published scrolls and fragments. For more information see last years syllabus. The flexibility of the online format allows you to study from home, the office, or the local coffee shop – it’s up to you.
