This course covers the main aspects of the Dead Sea Scrolls and explores their relevance for understanding and interpreting the Bible. It includes a general overview of the Scrolls and their publication, the Second Temple period, and the main Jewish groups in that period. The main part of the course deals with the text, canon, and interpretation of the Hebrew Bible and the Dead Sea Scrolls. Several major scrolls will be studied, and recently published scrolls and fragments will be evaluated.
