The Bibliography of the History of Art (BHA) is the world's most comprehensive bibliography of scholarly writing about the history of western art. It covers western art from late antiquity (4th century A.D.) to 2009. Coverage of contemporary art includes critical and theoretical publications. BHA covers not only the fine arts (architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing and prints), but also the decorative and applied arts, industrial design, popular and folk art, photography, new media and the performing arts as well as material culture of interest to art historians. Over 2500 journals are indexed, as well as conference reports, dissertations, books, exhibition catalogues, obituaries, art dealer catalogues and microforms.
Note tha the database search includes both BHA (covering 1990-2007) and the International Bibliography of Art (IBA) cover the years 2008 and part of 2009. The Répertoire de la literature de l'art (RILA), one of the predecessors of BHA, with records that cover 1975-1989, will be online by 01 May 2010. |
