Curriculum Materials Centre & Library Orientation

The Curriculum Materials Centre located on the upper level of the library, provides circulating and non-circulating collections, as well as a study area equipped with carrels and tables for quiet group study.  It is available during regular library hours, except during reserved class times and orientations.

The Curriculum Materials Centre Office is situated within the Curriculum Materials Centre. A library technician, specializing in Education, is available for assistance during office hours. 


CIRCULATING CURRICULUM COLLECTION:

LT Collection:

  • Comprised of text books, teacher's guides, resource manuals and student resources, which support the K-12 curriculum.

LT Classification Schedule:

  • The purpose of the LT Classification System is to organize the material within the broader disciplines, to keep curricula developed by specific publishers together, and to show appropriate grade levels for material. Call numbers beginning with Curric. LT will be located in the LT Collection in the Curriculum Materials Centre.

  • The literature collection within the LT Collection includes picture books, novels, plays, poetry, fairytales and legends for all grade levels.
  • The literature section has been revised to include all the genre, study and teaching materials at LT4300-4358 and genre literature beginning at LT4380. Literature genre are cuttered by author and title so that literature by individual authors can be shelved together.
Loan period: 21 day loan period for LT Collection items.
Renewals: One renewal period
Limits: Maximum of 30 items per individual


NON-CIRCULATING CURRICULUM COLLECTIONS:
Curriculum Resource Units:

  • Individual teaching units which have been compiled primarily by education students
  • The Curriculum Resource Unit Index provides a listing of titles and grade levels
Integrated Resource Packages:

  • Provincial curriculum documents which set the standards for K-12 curriculum; produced by educators and the Ministry of Education
  • A Grade Collections Index indicates IRP recommended resources which are included in the CMC / library
Resource Books:

  • Collection of resource materials provided mainly by the Ministry of Education, includes foundational and assessment reports
RELEVANT COLLECTIONS:

  • Videos, Cassettes, CD's - located in the Audiovisual Collection, Upper Level
  • Journals - located in the Periodicals Collection on the Main Level
  • Reference Collection, Microfilm and Microfiche - located on the Main Level
