Curriculum Materials Centre

Providing a collection of resources to support the curriculum for the School of Education and enhance the educational and teaching experience of Education students.

The Curriculum Materials Centre located on the upper level of the library, provides circulating and non-circulating collections, as well as a study area equipped with carrels and tables for quiet group study.  It is available during regular library hours, except during reserved class times and orientations.

 

The Curriculum Materials Centre Office is situated within the Curriculum Materials Centre. A library technician, specializing in Education, is available for assistance during office hours.

I. Circulating Curriculum Collections
  • LT Collection: comprised of teacher's guides, resource manuals, text books, student resources, and the Literature Collection which support the K-12 curriculum
  • Literature Collection: includes picture books, novels, plays, poetry, fairy tales and legends for all grade levels. The literature section has been revised to include all the genre, study and teaching resources at LT4300-4358, and genre literature beginning at LT 4380. Literature genre are ordered by author and title so that literature by individual authors will be shelved together.

  • LT Classification Schedule: organizes the curriculum materials within the broader disciplines and shows appropriate grade levels. Call numbers beginning with Curric. LT will be located in the Curriculum Materials Centre
  • LT Call Number / Workmarks: The LT Call Number and workmark is designed to show the collection, publisher/author, grade level and type of resource.

II. Non-Circulating Curriculum Collections
  • Curriculum Documents and Integrated Resource Packages: provincial curriculum documents which set the standards for K-12 curriculum
  • Resource Books: produced by educators and the BC Ministry of Education; focusing on foundational guides and assessment materials
  • Curriculum Resource Units: individual teaching units compiled by education students; currently not available on-line. See: Curriculum Resource Unit Index in the CMC for a list of Curriculum Resource Units.

III. Relevant Collections
  • Media Collection: [Upper level] includes DVD, CD, Video and Cassette resources which are education related; and equipment to listen and view resources
