On Campus Employment

Obtaining on-campus employment is a great way to gain work experience while also earning money to offset the cost of your education.

Every year hundreds of students take part in these employment opportunities whether for a couple of hours or for up to 10 hours a week. It is a great way for students to make the extra money they need to attend TWU.

 

Most of the employment opportunities are for students who have demonstrated financial need. To find out more about on-campus employment go to Financial Aid.

How to apply for on-campus employment?

  1. Apply for campus employment through the Financial Aid Office by February 28.
  2. The Financial Aid Office will inform you by letter if you have been accepted.
  3. Begin your job search on TWU Career Connect
  4. Once you log into your account go to "Find a Job" (located on the right-hand side of the screen)
  5. In the search features (at the top of the page) use the "Position Type" drop-down menu and select "On-Campus Student Employment (TWU use only)".
  6. Click the "Search" button to see results for all on-campus jobs available. 
  7. Once you have found a position (or positions) you would like to apply for do so directly in the job posting. You will need to provide a resume which can either be created in your account or can be uploaded from your computer.
  8. Supervisors will short-list the candidates they would like to interview and will contact you to set up a time.
  9. Supervisors are not likely to conduct interviews and make decisions on their jobs until a couple of weeks prior to the job starting (i.e. end of August/beginning of September for Fall semester positions).
  10. Successful candidates who are offered a position will need to follow the "Next steps" below.

How to apply for on-campus SUMMER employment?

  1. Students can begin applying for summer employment roles starting in January.
  2. Begin your job search at TWU Career Connect
  3. Once you log into your account go to "Find a Job(located on the right-hand side of the screen)
  4. In the search features (at the top of the page) use the "Position Type" drop-down menu and select "On-Campus Student Employment (TWU use only)".
  5. Click the "Search" button to see results for all on-campus jobs available. 
  6. Once you have found a position (or positions) you would like to apply for do so directly in the job posting. You will need to provide a resume which can either be created in your account or can be uploaded from your computer.
  7. You will also need to fill in the summer application form and save it as follows: "Summer Application - Your Name - Current Year" (e.g. Summer Application - John Smith - 2013).
    NOTE:to save the form you must use the "icon" of a disk (see below). ********DO NOT go to "File" and "Save Page As" or your information will be lost.If you are using Google Chrome as your web browser you will see these options in the bottom left-hand corner.  To download the form click here.

  8. Once you have filled out and saved your summer application form be sure to open it to ensure your information was saved prior to closing the internet form.
  9. Email the completed Summer Application form to Lois Penner lpenner@twu.ca

Next steps after being offered a position . . .

  1. Obtain a copy of the contract and non-disclosure agreement from your supervisor
  2. Stop by the Student Success Centre to sign up for an appointment with Lois Penner.
  3. At your appointment be sure to bring the following:
    • contract
    • non-disclosure form
    • social insurance number
    • a blank cheque(if possible)
    • study permit if an international student

  4. Once all the paperwork is complete be sure to also read through the "Student Employment Handbook" to properly prepare for your new job!
