What is SPIN?

SPIN is a year-long program for second year students who have earned between 27 and 56 semester hours at TWU. It provides sophomores with a chance to re-connect with TWU friends in groups called SPIN Teams and enjoy an early welcome back to campus called SPIN Cycle. SPIN provides peer leadership development opportunities for sophomores interested in planning class events. It also addresses some of those hard-hitting issues: academic decisions and life calling. All of this is provided in an engaging, fun atmospherethink Challenge Course, eating out, and many other activities.

Why SPIN?

SPIN has been created to address and identify the issues that sophomore students are experiencing. Second year students are making an academic transition and often need assistance because it is often during the sophomore year that they select their majors (and perhaps a minor), evaluate off-campus study options, and investigate experiential learning opportunities. Trinity Western University plans to offer a series of programs not only to facilitate the decision making but also to make it a serious, meaningful, and well thought out process.

What does this program look like?

Currently, proposed SPIN events include:
  • SPIN Cycle (September 5 8, 2004)
  • A two day sophomore retreat scheduled in November;
  • Major Exploration and Program Fair in the fall semester;
  • Spring Workshop: Sophomore Summit

Who's making this all happen?

This is a project out of the Student Experience department in Student Life, but it's run by and for second-year student leaders. The team is composed of a few SPIN Doctors and several SPIN Captains. For details, click here.

How do I sign up?

SPIN is no longer accepting new applications for Fall 2004. If you are interested in SPIN 2005, please come back to www.twu.ca/spin next spring and sign up then.
