How will you Serve?

Within Global Projects there is a number of different ways to get involved and serve. You could go and serve in one of many locations over your spring break, or if you're looking for something even more stretching try a summer trip that is a month long. If you're passionate about getting the word our about mission organizations or just learning about what opportunities are out there Missions Week might be for you. Or maybe you love computers, helping people and would like to see how those fit together... if that's the case SHOUT is where you belong.

Our purpose is to provide TWU students, staff and faculty with opportunities to serve on campus through opportunities like Missions Week and SHOUT and globally through trips held in Spring or Summer breaks.

Serving others allows you to see, hear and identify with those who realize their need for God, who mourn and hunger for justice; those whose hearts are pure and who work for peace; those who are persecuted (Matthew 5:3-10).

When service takes you across cultural barriers, you begin the adventure of stepping outside your comfort zone and trusting God to minister through your own weakness and brokenness. You will make mistakes! We all do. But be gracious with yourself as you grapple with the tough questions of life.

As you serve those in need, you'll need grace.

Learning about other ways to view the world, worship God and live life can be exciting! But it can also be frustrating. At first, your way seems better. It just makes sense. It's painful to give up a part of yourself and your tradition. In order to truly empathize with someone else, you often need to sacrifice. Yet, you have a great model before you! Jesus made himself nothing, adopting the humble position of a slave and obediently dying on the cross (Philippians 2:7-8).

As you learn to follow Jesus, you'll need humility.
