Summer Teams 2011

kijiji

Every summer Trinity sends teams overseas to do 1-2 month long development/missions projects. Teams are partnered with local organizations and help to support them in their work. Sometimes teams bring unique experience/knowledge to meet unmet needs.

Why do a summer service project?

1. Gaining a Global Perspective

  • Discover how your everyday life in North America is interconnected with poverty and injustice around the world. Your daily choices and habits greatly affect the quality of life experienced by others in developing countries.
  • Experience the global church. The body of Christ is not limited by physical borders, or boundaries of language and culture. Find out how all can worship together and serve each other. Don't get stuck in your bubble!

2. Education and Career Development

  • Apply your education and gain valuable field experience in the global context. Your special knowledge and skills will also be a valuable contribution to the team.
  • Many students have organized to even get school credit by doing a practicum during a summer service project. Organize this with your prof.
  • Gain valuable experience which can be featured on your resume, giving you a competitive edge over others who just have the education aspect.

3.  Spiritual Transformation

  • You will face many new challenges and be forced to rely on God and trust in Him.
  • Discover your gifts and see how God can use them, even though you feel inadequate.
  • Enjoy being part of a team. There is so much joy and friendship that occurs; you will also learn a lot about yourself, and how to care for those you work with.
