Women's Youth Custody Centre Ministry

The Women's Youth Custody Centre Ministry [WYCC] reaches out to young women ranging from 12-18 residing at the Burnaby Youth Open Custody Centre.

Every Wednesday evening a team of young women from Trinity Western University coordinates the "UPWORDS" program, in conjunction with the chaplain of the Centre. The "UPWORDS" program consists of icebreaker games, student testimonies, singing, prayer, and small group discussions, where relationships with the residents are promoted.

Trust is built when Trinity Western University students break into smaller groups with the residents, and have an opportunity to chat one on one with the residents. The focus of the ministry is to share Christ's love with searching young women at the centre.
