2010-2011 River Theme:Beauty in Brokenness

The River

The River is a monthly event with the purpose of developing a safe environment for TWU women to connect spiritually and intellectually on the deep issues of the soul. Souls are easily neglected with the hustle of university life, and The River provides an opportunity for students to refresh with intimate prayer, liberated worship and an inspiring message from a guest speaker. This years' theme verse is:

2 Corinthians 12:9 "My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness"

One student's experience...

The River is a place where you can rest, breathe, seek God's face and watch Him touch and restore the areas in your life that God gently and ever so lovingly wants to heal.

The first time I attended The River I found myself in a place of security and rest. In this space, I was able to quietly seek the restorative peace of God. God's tender arms and reaching love is an experience I continually see myself in as I draw near to the Father at the start of my day.

For this is what The Lord says:
"I will extend peace to her like a river, and the wealth of the nations like a flooding stream; you will nurse and be carried on her arm and dandled on her knees. As a mother comforts her child, so I (The Lord) will comfort you..."   Isaiah 66:12-13

"There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, the holy habitation of the most high. God is in the midst of the city; it shall not be moved; God will help it when the morning dawns."

Ps. 46:4-5 (NRSV)
