TWU is committed to helping students develop and grow during their university education. This includes ensuring that students health care needs are provided for while they study. To ensure this, TWU requires all non-Canadian students who reside in BC during the academic year to enrol in the British Columbia Medical Services Plan (BCMSP). Out-of-province Canadian students must make appropriate arrangements with their provincial health care bodies. BCMSP provides basic health care needs and helps avoid surprise medical bills. For more coverage details please see pamphlet or the BCMSP Website
When you arrive on campus for orientation, Trinity Western staff will provide information about BCMSP, sign you up for both interim health care coverage and BCMSP.
The annual cost of insurance is approximately $880.00 CDN. This cost covers interim health care coverage for three months and BCMSP coverage for nine months.
The general policy of BCMSP is that students who return to another country between semesters will maintain their BCMSP health care coverage.
If you are returning to TWU in the fall and have received an updated Study Permit you will need to provide the Wellness Centre staff with that information. If at anytime your Study Permit expires and is in process, you must let the Wellness Centre staff know and they will provide you with interim insurance until you receive the updated Study Permit.
Students Graduating or withdrawing from TWU
Students who graduate or terminate studies at TWU will need to end their enrolment in BCMSP by advising the Wellness Centre and secure alternate insurance coverage.
If you have any questions concerning Health Insurance please contact the TWU Wellness Centre at 604-513-2100.
