The Study Skills Class (SKLS 001) assists students to create a strategic study strategy that works for their individual preferences. Success at university involves different study strategies then ones employed in high school. By developing a personal strategic study plan students are more efficient and effective learners and consequently most are able to increase their academic performance by approximately half a letter grade in the semester they take the Study Skills class. Topics addressed in the Study Skills class are: time management; learning styles; note-taking; effective reading; memory techniques; test taking; procrastination and stress; research and writing; and vocational direction. Contact Gloria Drayton or Brenda Keis for further details regarding the Study Skills course.
