A showcase featuring the year’s best works from theatre, music, and literature

Trinity Western University’s annual Festival of the Arts, Media + Culture wraps up with choir, band, and orchestra performances, theatre pieces, and literary readings. Each year, students of TWU’s School of Arts, Media + Culture (SAMC) present their best and most exciting work in a handful of diverse performances and exhibitions. There’s something for everyone!

7:30 p.m. | Peace Lutheran Church, Abbotsford

Drawing from a wealth of material around the theme of “time,” TWU’s Concert Band and Orchestra set out to thrill with homages to “Doctor Who,” Coldplay, Haydn and other classical masters, as well as iconic movies. Tickets are $10 each.


24 HOUR THEATRE

Saturday, April 8

7:30 pm | Freedom Hall, Robert N. Thompson Building, TWU Langley Campus

How long does it take to make a play? Can it be done in 24 hours? These short and funny plays are written, cast, rehearsed and performed—all in one overnight, caffeine-fueled adventure. Witness the outrageous results on the TWU stage!


DANCE FOR JOY

Sunday, April 9

3 pm | Mennonite Educational Institute Secondary Auditorium, Abbotsford

Knowing everyone can use a little more joy in their lives, the TWU Chamber Choir and Concert Choir have teamed up with the MEI Concert Choir and Chamber Singers to present Dance for Joy, featuring fun and uplifting pieces about dancing or dancers. From a German waltz by Brahms to the beloved Canadian Log Driver’s Waltz—get ready for a concert that will be sure to move you! Tickets: $10 (suggested).

7:30 pm | Alumni Hall, Reimer Student Centre, TWU Langley Campus

Can nonfiction writing be creative? Absolutely. Witness personal stories come to life in this intimate literary evening from SAMC Media + Communication. Upper-level writing students read a series of new, thought-provoking short pieces to showcase a broad range of narrative nonfiction. Literature lovers are invited to gather with these talented young authors and storytellers for readings, reflection, and refreshments.


ACTING SHOWCASE: GREAT SHORT PLAYS!

When is “acting up” a good thing? When it’s a part of a year-end showcase of theatre pieces presented by TWU’s first-year acting students, that’s when! Join them as they explore themes around love and the search for God.
