John W Auxier, PhD, RMFT

Associate Professor of Marriage & Family Therapy

Auxier’s clinical experience includes employment as a psychiatric social worker, a substance abuse group counsellor, and twenty-five years in private practice as a licensed mental health professional. Over his career he has been the director of a graduate counselling program (1996-2001), and Dean of Trinity Western Seminary (1999-2018).

A credentialed marriage and family therapist since 2001, he also has training in the Satir model, the Gottman approach, and Emotional Focused therapy (EFT). He is also an authorized trainer for the Prepare-Enrich inventories, and the PREP couples workshop programs. Auxier works primarily with couples in therapy and marriage enrichment in his current practice. He has extensive pastoral care experience with twelve years in ministry in New Jersey and Arizona.
