Program

Trinity Western's Laurentian Leadership Centre is geared towards third and fourth year students who plan a career in business, communications, history, international studies or political studies. This fully credited, semester-long program includes nine semester hours of interdisciplinary courses and a six-semester hour internship in Ottawa, Canada's capital city.

The Courses

Learn about leadership, public policy, ethics and contemporary culture from people who work in the field, and hear from guest speakers who are leaders in government and industry.

The Internship

Imagine working on Parliament Hill, or sleuthing out stories for the Ottawa Citizen, or working in the intense business world. Intern with the International Joint Commission, CIDA or an NGO.  Your placement will help you gain real world experience in a field relevant to your major or career interest.  Link here for list of past internships.

The Certificate

Students who complete the three courses with at least a 1.7 GPA in each, the internship and are recommended by the Director of the LLC will obtain a Certificate in Applied Leadership and Public Affairs. Students who have already graduated have the option of obtaining a Graduate Certificate in Applied Leadership and Public Affairs by, in addition to the above, completing a gaduate project, approved by the LLC Director, under the supervision of their internship supervisor.

"I keep wondering if there is a break pedal for this adventure we're on.  I can't believe how much I am doing, seeing and experiencing in such a short period of time.  There is so much in reach of the LLC from Parliament to the National Arts Centre-- and we get to be a part of it all.  It does not lose its magic; every day is an amazing experience, even if that experience is just living in a beautiful, historic mansion.  At the same time, I'm gaining direction for the rest of my life.  It's a very special opportunity."
