The Verge Arts Series, an initiative of the Faculty of Professional Studies and Performing Arts, hosted an interdisciplinary conference October 16-18, 2008, that discussed the relationship between the arts and community. With painter, Chris Anderson, and Juno Award winner composer, Christos Hatzis, as keynote speakers, and other international presenters, the conference sought to answer questions about the purposes of public art, how the arts (music, visual art, film, theatre, dance, etc.) impact community, and if artistic practice should have an ethical responsibility to a community.
