Letter from the President
Giving Thanks
Looking ahead to twu’s 50th anniversary
this upcoming year, we will be celebrating our 50th anniversary across campus. It will be a year of honouring the past and looking toward the University’s bright future. In this vein, our theme for the year is “Rooted and Reaching.” Alumni, students, staff, and faculty are rooted in Jesus Christ, our pillar and hope, and, we stand as Canada’s premier Christian university.
From this foundation, we are reaching to become a world-class university, driven by the strong conviction that faith and reason can transform the world.
When I think about twu’s 50th anniversary, I am humbled by how God’s provision has guided the University for half a century and thankful for the many people who have contributed to our common mission. I am also thankful for the presence of Christ that is evident in the lives of alumni, students, staff, and faculty. Our community has remained faithful to twu’s commitment to be a means of God’s compassion, reconciliation, and hope to the world. In doing so, we never stop striving for excellence in all we do—exploring new research, innovations, and opportunities to make an eternal difference in people’s lives.
I believe that this, our 50th year, should be a year of thanksgiving for twu. Expressing thanks gives occasion to do three important things: reflect on what God has done in the past; consider the present and recognize His guiding hand; and look confidently to the future, knowing Christ is at work.
I thank God for you—the alumni, students, staff, and faculty of this remarkable university. Thank you for your participation in the mission and ministry of Trinity Western University.
Every blessing in Christ Jesus,
Jonathan S. Raymond, Ph.D., President
