  • SOCI 390Special Topics in Sociology: Gender, Work & Family

    A thought-provoking home economics for the 21st century, this course examines work and family interaction in order to understand stress, job burnout, self-esteem, gender roles, and parenting behaviours.

  • HIST 332Issues in the History of British Columbia

    Bruce Shelvey, Ph.D., reorganized this course to consist almost entirely of field trips to various sites throughout BC. He was recognized for his creativity with the 2011 Provost’s Innovative Teaching Award.



  • RELS 465Infuential Thinkers in the Western Christian Tradition

    Investigating the thought and intellectual contributions of some seminal figures, this course remains one of TWU’s most popular, taught by Cal Townsend, ThM.

  • COMM 440Digital Film Directing

    Want to be the next Spielberg or Scorsese? In this course, you’ll learn how to create storyboards, shoot and edit scenes, and refine the elusive craft of “working with actors.”

  • BIOL 364Coral Reef Ecology

    Fieldwork will have you donning a swimsuit and snorkeling gear as you examine the plants, animals, and physical factors of a fringing coral reef on the Hawaiian island of Maui.

  • ECON 330Holistic Community Economic Development

    Murray MacTavish, Ph.D., leads this class through research for a holistic community economic development project in Muhanda, Kenya. Their work is applied in participation with TWU’s Kenya-Uganda travel study, where students visit the HODI (Hands On Development Initiatives International) project.

  • ENGLISH 465Eighteenth-Century Literature

    To cap off a semester full of lively debates about gender inequality, Sara Pearson, Ph.D., hosts an eighteenth-century meal at her home, made from historical recipes in The Jane Austen Cookbook.

  • HKIN 128Intro to Mountain Biking

    Downhill, dirt, and ditches. ‘Nuff said.
