College/University Transfer Admission Requirements
Steps to apply
1) Complete and submit you online application for admission.
2) Send us your official final transcript from high school and from each college/university you've attended. If you are a US student transferring 26 or less credits, send us scores from the SAT (Code 0876) or ACT (Code 5242).
3) Your admissions counsellor will phone you with an admissions decision within 2 weeks of receiving your transcript.
Note: Transcripts are considered official if they are sealed and sent directly from the school.
Priority Application Dates
Applying for the Fall (September) semester: March 15
Applying for the Spring (January) semester: October 15
Note: Applications received by the above dates will receive priority for scholarships and grants.
Admission Requirements
Students transferring 26 or less semester hours will be evaluated for admission using both high school and college course work. Students transferring with 27 or more semester hours will be evaluated for admission solely on their college/university course work.
A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0 is required on all college/university coursework. For information about how your entrance GPA will be determined, please visit the BCCAT website.
Transferring Courses
Students may find out what courses have been transferred from their college or university through TWU’s transfer credit database. Courses not found in the database will require an evaluation. Syllabi and/or course descriptions may be required for the evaluation process. An official transfer credit assessment will commence once the admissions application has been received.
Refer to the current TWU Academic Calendar for details regarding transferring upper level courses and graduation requirements.
The University reserves the right to accept only such courses as comply with the academic standards established by TWU and with the requirements for graduation.
Universities and Colleges
A maximum of 75 semester hours can be transferred to TWU.
Students with an Associate of Arts or Associate of Science degree from a recognized college or university college in B.C. will be guaranteed at least 60 semester hours
Some required courses in business, education and nursing programs at TWU require a minimum letter grade above that of a pass. In cases where a lower grade than the minimum required is achieved, general elective credit will be granted and the course must be retaken at Trinity Western University to meet graduation requirements.
Bible Colleges
Bible Colleges must be accredited with the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). A maximum of 60 semester hours of credit in appropriate courses can be given, of which a maximum of 24 semester hours may be biblical studies and 36 semesters may be liberal arts courses. Bible college courses that have been articulated with a public university may be assigned credit for these courses above the maximum totals indicated.
Applicants from non-accredited Bible Colleges should contact the Admissions Office for further consultation.
Institutes of Technology and Colleges of Applied Arts
Students may transfer a maximum of 45 semester hours with a minimum B- grade. Students from BC Institute of Technology (BCIT) may transfer up to 75 semester hours of course work to TWU. Courses must have a passing grade or higher.
International Institutions
Applicants from institutions outside Canada and the US must have their college or university transcripts evaluated by a professional credential agency that is a member of the Alliance of Credential Services of Canada, such as the International Credential Evaluation Service (www.bcit.ca/ices).
