Aqueduct Website Author News
The latest new features (July 25th, 2008)
The Recycle Bin is now a lot more useful.
- When you delete any folder, page, asset, or shortcut (including from the editors) it goes directly to the Recycle Bin in Aqueduct Website Author. We already had this in place with the Folder Editor, but now it's consistent.
- Everyone who can use Website Author can now get into the Recycle Bin folder to see their deleted items!
New "Empty your items in the Recycle Bin" link allows you to quickly clean up your deleted items you don't need. (Look for it under Folder Properties while you're looking at the Recycle Bin folder - click the image on the right.)
- For administrators, there's a new "Cleanup the Recycle Bin" that deletes items over 3 months old as well as items that appear to be "junk" based on the name of the item, the content, and if it was ever published. There's also an "Empty the whole recycle bin" command.
Images can now be rotated (even automatically)
- We added image scaling and cropping earlier this year. Now when editing an image, you have the option to rotate it as well.

- When you upload a photo from a new(ish) digital camera, orientation data from your camera is used to automatically rotate your photo to show up correctly on the website.
More new features (July 2008)
The Page Editor has had some major improvements
- There are two new tabs on the Page Editor: Comments and Revisions.

- Comments will be used in the future by blogs and regular pages to get feedback from people logged in to www.twu.ca. You'll have the ability to approve comments made on any web page you can edit, and depending on the type of web page, the comments may show up on your page publicly.

- The Revisions tab allows you to access the editing history of your page and roll back to older versions. Since every version is saved, you can roll back to any past version (as of July) without worrying about losing your changes.

- Also added are a couple of "field helpers" that make working with Date/Time and URL (Web address) fields a little easier:

- The rich text editor (tinyMCE) has been upgraded from version 2.13 to version 3.1.
Statistics (June 2008)
Orion announced some new Website Author stats on his blog.
New features (March 2008)
We've added a handful of new features:
- Resize/crop photos online: Upload a photo, then click the Crop/resize button on it, as shown below.

- Unzip Zip archives online:If you need to upload several files at once, you can upload them in a Zip file and then unzip them online.

- Download as Zip: You can now download all the assets from a folder into a Zip file - just look under Folder Properties for the new link:

- CSS, JavaScript, XML, and XSLT editing: If you're a power user/designer who needs to work with any of those languages, we now have syntax highlighting and a better editor to assist:

Migration Update - November 6th, 2007
Since it's launch, Website Author has had a lot of activity.
In the last month, there have been over 4000 page modifications, and there are now over 9000 pages in the system, up from about 6500 when we switched over. There is still some work to be done until we are completely though the migration process. Please do access the online training tutorials available on the main ‘website author' site (www.twu.ca/author) that cover creating and editing pages, uploading photos, and working with folders. Also, watch for several more task specific ‘website author' videos that Orion is in the process of developing for campus stakeholders.
