Institutional Accreditations

The Associated Canadian Theological Schools (ACTS) is an association of four seminaries (Canadian Baptist Seminary, Mennonite Brethren Biblical Seminary, Northwest Baptist Seminary, and Trinity Western Seminary) working together—an arrangement often called a cluster or a consortium. Collectively, the ACTS consortium constitutes the Graduate School of Theological Studies of Trinity Western University. Most degrees in the consortium are offered conjointly, that is, by the University and the participating seminary together. In this way, ACTS students receive the best of university education and professional seminary training. ACTS is an accredited member in the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS).

CASN/ACESI (Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing/Association canadienne des écoles de sciences infirmières) is the national voice for nursing education, research, and scholarship and represents baccalaureate and graduate nursing programs in Canada. For more information about Canadian Association of Schools of Nursing (CASN), please visit www.casn.ca CPA Canada is the national organization established to support unification of the Canadian accounting profession under the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation. CPA Canada provides services to all CPA, CA, CMA and CGA accounting bodies that have unified or are committed to unification. Certified Management Accountants of Canada (CMA Canada) has awarded the accreditation of the Bachelor of Business Administration Program, with a specialization in accounting, at Trinity Western University (TWU). To achieve quality growth in the management accounting profession, CMA Canada oversees an accreditation process that recognizes superior educational programs at leading academic institutions. These programs provide substantial coverage of the CMA Competency Map Entrance Requirements and equip students with in-depth knowledge and skills in management accounting and financial accounting. The CPA National Recognition and Accreditation Standards for Post-Secondary Institutions includes the national standards for the recognition of undergraduate courses for admission to the CPA Professional Education Program and for the accreditation of graduate courses and programs for advanced standing in the CPA PEP. The CPA profession distinguishes between the two national standards as follows:

• Recognition standards apply to the review, assessment and approval of prerequisite learning for admission to the CPA PEP through a baccalaureate degree program or higher of an academic institution.
• Accreditation standards apply to the review, assessment and approval of graduate programs that deliver some or the entire CPA PEP through programs equivalent to the CPA profession’s programs. Accreditation standards for the delivery of some or the entire CPA professional education program represents a significantly higher level of partnership between the post-secondary institution and the CPA profession than do recognition standards.

To achieve quality growth in the management accounting profession, CPA Canada oversees an accreditation process that recognizes superior educational programs at leading academic institutions. These programs provide substantial coverage of the CPA Competency Map Entrance Requirements and equip students with in-depth knowledge and skills in management accounting and financial accounting. For more information about Certified Management Accountants Canada (CPA Canada), visit: https://www.cpacanada.ca/ CACREP Accreditation provides recognition that the content and quality of the program has been evaluated and meets standards set by the profession. The student, as a consumer, can be assured that appropriate knowledge and skill areas are included and that the program is stable, professionally and financially. CACREP is the accreditation body of the American Counseling Association (ACA). The Masters in Counselling Psychology (MA-CPSY) program first received accreditation from this body in 2002, and was accredited through to October 31, 2014. The MA-CPSY program has been a full member of CACEP - the accreditation body of the Canadian Counselling & Psychotherapy Association (CCPA) since 2012.  Reaccreditation was granted in 2018 through to November 2024 when another site visit and reaccreditation process will take place.  The International Registry of Counsellor Education Programs (IRCEP) was developed by the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Programs (CACREP) to respond to growing requests for an international recognition review process for counsellor education programs around the world. The Masters in Counselling Psychology (MA-CPSY) program at TWU is an approved program included in this registry. TWU School of Education has the Full Accreditation status with BC College of Teachers from 2002. The accreditation was grandfathered by the BC Teacher Regulation Branch in January 2012. This program maintains national standards of education and promotes the portability of the qualifications of graduates from such programs. The CSC’s accreditation program provides a complete listing of both national and international undergraduate programs that have been accredited by the Society, guidelines for accreditation, and the opportunity for universities to submit an invitation to the CSC to accredit their programs. Programs are accredited for five years based on a review by the CSC’s accreditation board which includes a site visit by a team of chemists; this is termed “1st cycle.” Programs are then re-accredited for a second five-year period, termed “2nd cycle,” based on a reassessment by the CSC’s accreditation board. International accreditations require a site visit for this cycle also. TWU is the only school in Canada that received the recognition from the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA) strength and conditioning educational program and the Human Kinetics programs are evaluated every three years through a renewal process.
