The Psychology program is one of the most popular majors at TWU, and for good reason.
Dubbed the ‘hub science’--with research and perspectives that inform the social sciences, natural sciences, medicine, the humanities, and philosophy – psychology is a natural complement to many academic pursuits, and it prepares students for a broad range of professions.
Psychology is the scientific study of mind and behaviour, exploring perception, cognition, neuroscience, attention, emotion, motivation, personality, behaviour, phenomenology, and much more. Although much of this knowledge is traditionally applied to assessing and treating mental health problems, the study of psychology is also directed towards solving problems in a broad array of human activities. Psychology, after all, ultimately aims to benefit society. Our program encourages personal and spiritual growth, fosters community spirit, and integrates academics, research experience, practice, and faith. Led by respected researchers and practicing professional psychologists, students will gain valuable experience in our state-of-the-art facilities, fieldwork, and work placement opportunities. Travel study and retreat courses are available each summer. Students can also join the Psychology Club and Psi Chi Honors Society to experience leadership opportunities and engage psychological issues outside of the classroom.
The Graduate Program in Counseling Psychology (M.A.) is offered for students who have completed the honours program in psychology and who wish to continue their studies.
