ACADEMIC COACHING (SKLS 003)
Academic Coaching is a non-credit program that provides weekly coaching sessions designed to help students improve their academic performance based on their specific needs. Academic coaching is particularly recommended for students who are transitioning into the university from high school or from other cultures and want to maximize the first semester at TWU.
Academic Coaching helps students:
- Discover how they learn best
- Motivate themselves for success
- Create a strategic academic plan
- Incorporate productive habits for time management, research & writing, and exam preparation
- Embrace accountability
Academic Coaching is open to ALL student and is offered in the fall and spring semesters. The coaching sessions occur weekly either in One-on-One or group coaching sessions. The cost of Academic Coaching is $500/semester. The Academic Coaching offices are located at the Learning Commons (formerly Student Success Centre) in the Reimer Student Centre.

STUDY SKILLS (SKLS 001)
Study Skills Class offers students a greater awareness of what it takes to face the rigors of university academics. Students discover and are encouraged to implement study strategies that work for their individual preferences to enhance their academic achievement. Our statistics show that over 90% of those who take SKLS 001 see an increase in their GPA that same semester! The topics addressed in Study Skills are:
- Time management
- Learning styles
- Effective reading
- Memory techniques
- Test taking
- Procrastination and goal setting
- Critical thinking
- Mindset and wise decision making
- Vocational direction.
Study Skills 001 is open to all students and is offered in the fall and spring semesters in 10 50 – minute sessions over 5 weeks starting Add/Drop week. The cost of Study Skills is $195.
