The Minor in Elementary School Physical Education equips you to be trained as a physical education teacher in the public and private school system where you can pass on your love of sport, activity, recreation, health and fitness to children and teens who need a positive and inspirational role model.
Students must meet the external requirements of the British Columbia Teachers Federation (BCTF) and the Professional Year Program (PYP). Students can take a concurrent education program available from Trinity Western University that enables graduation within a five years or apply after a four year degree for the two year PYP program.
Prospective teachers can select from a Bachelor of Arts, a Concentration, or a Minor in Elementary School Physical Education depending on their preference for teaching in a secondary or elementary school setting. It is essential for students interested in a teaching career to consult with TWU’s School of Education during the first year of study to ensure that specific program requirements will be met.
