Disciplinary Concerns

Supervisors are encouraged to document any problems or concerns regarding students’ employment performance (e.g. carelessness, poor attitude, lack of integrity, insubordination, etc.).

It is recommended that supervisors set a time to discuss perceived problems with their student employee(s) in order to ensure that students have an opportunity to meet required performance standards.

If the problem persists, it is recommended that supervisors write a formal contract outlining their specific concerns, expected changes and time frames for resolution.

If no improvement is observed, the student employee may be released. He/she should receive formal notice of dismissal in writing (typically, two weeks notice is given). Please forward a copy of the notice to the Campus Student Emplyment Coordinator in the Learning Commons (formerly Student Success Centre).
