More than 45 countries are represented in the student body. International students are found throughout the University community, in the English as a Second Language (ESL) program and at both the undergraduate and graduate level. International and ESL students contribute to the diversity of our community, helping enrich every student's education.
International Student Programs (ISP) serves the international student population by providing them with an introduction and orientation to the TWU community, and by offering ongoing support as they transition to life and school in Canada. (International Student Manual) ISP is a bridge between North American and International students; heightening campus awareness of cultural diversity by advocating for equity where differences and tensions may arise. ISP organizes social activities and strives to offer welcoming personal connections for international and poly-cultural students.
A well established Friendship Partner program exists at TWU to provide ESL and North American students with the opportunity to intentionally develop a friendship. In addition, there are many programs, formal and informal, which provide for cross-cultural exchange and increase global awareness on campus. At present there are three International Fellowship Groups available to students who wish to study the Bible and fellowship in their native tongue (Mandarin, Korean and Japanese), as well as several different English speaking Bible studies. The GLOBE, which is the international student lounge (Patio Apartments, McMillan Hall) is a popular gathering point for cross-cultural integration and interaction; it is a home away from home.
