Can I meet with a specific person when I come to Preview Weekend?
Unfortunately, we are unable to coordinate requests to meet with specific people. Deans and faculty members from each of our schools and faculties will be present. Feel free to approach them and introduce yourself -- they’d love to meet you!
However, if you would like a one-on-one meeting with a specific staff member, there are two ways to accomplish this! You can reach out to them before Preview Weekend to set up a time to meet. Alternately, you can set up an individual visit to meet with a specific faculty member at a later date.
Can my mom or dad stay overnight with me on campus?
Due to our residence policy, we can only accommodate overnight visitors under the age of 23. Fortunately, there are a wide variety of excellent local hotels, including some that offer discounts to parents visiting TWU. To find out more, visit our Accommodations page.
Do I need to stay for the whole event?
It’s completely up to you! We do recommend that you do stay for the entire event. Preview Weekend is filled with lots of helpful information and different sessions where you can meet faculty, current students and admissions staff and see and experience our great campus. However, if you cannot make the whole event, that is totally fine.
I am staying overnight on campus. What do I need to bring?
We are excited you are staying overnight on campus! Staying overnight in dorms is one of the best ways to meet new people and get a feel for the TWU community.
Here is a quick packing list for you:
Sleeping bag, pillow, foam/camping mat
Toiletries (including a shower towel)
I am flying in the day before Preview Weekend. Can I stay overnight on campus before it begins?
Because we are busy preparing for Preview Weekend, we are unable to accommodate families on campus before the event begins. If you are flying by yourself without a parent/guardian to Preview Weekend, please email us at email@example.com.
I don't live locally and I want to stay overnight but have no way to bring bedding
Have no fear! We have extra bedding! Please let your admission counsellor know and we will make sure to have some set aside for you when you arrive.
What airport should I fly into to get to Preview Weekend?
There are two nearby airports: Vancouver International Airport (YVR) and Abbotsford International Airport (YXX). We offer shuttles to and from both. Both of these airports have shuttles running from them on Thursday and Saturday.
Coming from the U.S.? For our American guests, Bellingham International Airport is also about an hour away from campus and sometimes offers cheaper fares from American cities. You will need to provide your own transportation to campus as we do not offer shuttles across the border.
What do I need to bring to attend this event?
If you’re staying overnight at Preview Weekend, you’ll need clothes, toiletries, sleeping bag, pillow and so on. When you arrive on campus to check in, we store your overnight bag(s) in a locked room so you don’t have to lug them around campus all day. (You can pick them up after dinner to take with you to your assigned dorm room.)
If there’s anything you’ll need (e.g. medications, snacks, water) throughout the day, keep them with you in a purse or backpack. It’s also worth bringing a jacket or sweater – even an umbrella! Some rooms are cooler than others. And, well, rain is always a possibility.
Sometimes visitors like to have a list of questions written out, ready to ask when the opportunity arises. A notebook and pen may come in handy, too.
What time does the event start on Thursday?
Good question! There are two start times: If you want to sit in on a class, please come at 12:30pm to register. If you do not want to sit in on a class, please come for 1:45pm.
If you have any additional questions, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
