ACTS Student FAQ

For all ACTS students, the priority deadline for graduation applications is October 31 in your final year of study. This deadline is the same regardless of whether you will complete your coursework in the fall or spring semester.

Submit an application for graduation online through Student Services. Click on 'Apply for Graduation' under the Graduation heading on the Courses, Fees & Enrolment page.

You only need to complete this process once. No checklist submission is required for Degree Completion, Graduate Studies, or ACTS students.

Your degree audit will be completed in either December (for fall graduates) or February/March (for spring graduates). You will be notified by a staff or faculty member at ACTS if there are any outstanding degree requirements you need to complete.

No, ACTS students participate in their own graduation ceremony, which is held separately from the TWU graduation events.

ACTS graduation ceremonies take place once a year, at the end of April. Check out this link to find the ACTS Academic Calendar with the dates for Spring 2022 and Spring 2023. https://actsseminaries.com/assets/Academics/2020-2023-acts-academic-calendar-dates.pdf

Note: ACTS students can still participate in the ceremony if they have up to three credits outstanding. However, they will not receive their physical diploma until they finish the remaining credits in their program. Marriage and Family Therapy students can have up to five credits outstanding and still attend the ceremony. Please check-in with your ACTS advisor if you have questions.

The Office of the Registrar will communicate your ceremony eligibility status with you during the semester in which you plan to graduate. If you are not eligible to attend the ceremony for which you initially applied, we will forward your graduation file to the next semester and you will be considered for participation in future ceremonies.

A staff or faculty member from ACTS will contact you in the spring semester once your eligibility for the graduation ceremony has been determined.

Please fill out the Notice of Degree Completion form once your final grades are entered if you meet any of the following criteria:

  1. Your final grades are entered (or transfer courses completed) one month or more after the end of the semester
  2. You did not apply online for graduation for the semester you completed in
  3. You were not eligible to participate in the most recent graduation ceremony
  4. You are a completing a Graduate Certificate program

If you have already submitted a graduation application but have decided to take time away from your studies, or have determined that you will not be able to graduate in the semester that you applied for, please notify the Office of the Registrar at twu.ca/help. Please include your new target graduation semester (if applicable) in your Service Hub request.

A degree conferral date is the official date on which the university awards your degree. Your degree conferral date is not necessarily the same as your graduation ceremony date. Degree conferral dates are set dates each semester that remain the same every year.

Your conferral date is determined based on your last semester of registration and/or your course completion date. You will receive your diploma after your degree conferral date has passed. Your official transcript will also show your degree conferral date after this date has passed. Please check your unofficial transcript for a conferral date before ordering your official transcript after graduation.

For ACTS students, the university has two conferral dates per year.

Spring: If your last semester of registration is in the spring semester, your degree will be conferred on May 31 and your diploma will be prepared for mailing in June.

Fall: If your last semester of registration is summer or fall, your degree will be conferred on December 31 and your diploma will be prepared for mailing in January.
